Course DescriptionStudents undertaking this one year face-to-face course will delve into game genres, game design principles, and create games using tools like Gamemaker, Unity and investigate gaming with VR headsets. The course includes developing 3D models, 3D Animations, 3D creatures, and 3D environments, while also having the opportunity to 3D print models. Students get to enhance digital drawing skills for character design, make sound effects, and create logos for a complete game development overview. Industry guest speakers will share valuable insights on job opportunities and pathways. Get ready for a rewarding journey in the gaming world! This qualification is current in the national register.
PathwaysCompletion of this full certificate course may lead to further study in Certificate IV in Screen and Media, higher-level tertiary degrees in 3D Modelling and Animation, Game Design and Production, Game Art and Visual Effects, Digital and Interactive Media. Depending upon students’ individual course specialisations further training may get them employment in: Film and Television sectors, Game Production Studios and the Visual Effects Industry
Entry RequirementsApproved evidence of completion of a relevant VET pathway must be provided. To meet the requirements of the VETRO process, students must demonstrate prior career planning/ relevant VET pathway evidence. This could include; relevant work experience, accredited training, SACE subjects/projects, an Industry Immersion presentation or a Screen and Media Taster Day to gain some practical skills (certificate of attendance evidence will be accepted.)
Other RequirementsPart A of the School Enrolled Students VET Referral online form to be completed by home school. This will then initiate the VETRO/LLN testing process. https://providers.skills.sa.gov.au/school-student-referral-to-vet-form. Regular attendance is essential. Students must be prepared to complete work at home if they are unable to attend. Neat casual dress Bring pen, writing paper, folder, USB / external hard drive.

Dates and Times35 weekly sessions at Marden Senior College on Wednesdays from 16:30 until 19:30.

Please note students must attend Wednesdays and Thursdays to complete the course. Students must be prepared to complete required homework each week. Students are not to leave site without approval. This course does not run during School or Public Holidays.

Selection ProcessMust be an Australian Citizen, permanent Australian resident or Eligible visa holder. Enrolled in Year 11, 12 or 13 and are 16 years of age or turning 16 years of age in the year of study and are undertaking SACE. LLN and pre training interview to be conducted by Marden Senior College prior to being accepted into the course (VETRO Process). Please note: in the event that the gaps in a student’s learning are too significant to commence training (not suitable for the course) all relevant data will be provided to the school so the student may be provided with appropriate learning support at home school and counselled into alternative subject choices.
Orientation DetailsOn your first day of training meet at Student Services (Blue building off gate 2, Marden Road). Here you will be met by Marden Staff member and taken to your classroom.
